Washington Post (August 3, 2011) reports on "Cat fight at U.S. Embassy in Kabul". It's actually an interesting story, both about the embassy in Kabul and about cats!

A cat on a wire by Raymond A. Foss

A short chain-link fence
ran along the sidewalk
in front of the old New Englander
the short front yard
just over elbow high
a cluster of birds
landed and flew
from the wire, the bar
to the flowerbed beyond ...

The Meowmorphosis, by Franz Kafka and Cook Coleridge

"One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that he had been changed into an adorable kitten."

ImageSo starts this bold rewrite of Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis, published by "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies publisher" Quirk Books, written by an extremely capable fantasy writer commissioned by Quirk Books to re-imagine the novel as a work of gonzo literature. It could have resulted in a book that simply replaced the word ...

Ketzel the cat composer

ImageKetzel, a black and white cat (a "tuxedo cat"), is dead. She died at the age of 19. She was famous for having composed a short piece for piano that won a prize in 1997 and went on to be featured in the book "The World of Women in Classical Music".

I am not joking! This is a true story! You can read about Ketzel the cat composer in New York Times. You can even ...

The Cornell Book of Cats

Image The Cornell Book of Cats is the definitive feline health text for cat owners, cat breeders and wise vets. Its depth and range of practical advice and its clear, non-jargon-laden symptom description and treatment options are, in my opinion, without peer. It covers every aspect of feline life and demystifies the latest research and advances. Its descriptions and temperament assessments of the various breeds are accurate. One especially good feature uses simple YES/NO question ...
